SABALI is the first project release for King - V. The word “Sabali” translates to patience in the west African language Bambara, originating in the kingdom of Mali. This five song EP is a sonic journey of an artist learning to cultivate and practice the art of patience. Each song deals with the theme of patience from a different perspective. Whether it is patience with the advancement of my career in music or patience in dealing with inherited traumas and depression. You will hear records about when to exercise the right amount of patience with your lover or when to let go. The pain we feel while on the journey to our destination is equally agonizing as it is beautiful and worth it.

With "SABALI” King - V set out to to create something that could bridge the gap between underground beat culture and modern soul music. Instead of the unrelenting density of hard-hitting raps that usually comes over this style of production he set out to bring a sound that is more emotionally present with introspective hooks and lush harmonies. The bulk of the production coming from J Dilla and Knxwledge disciple Azoth (Lansing, MI) or up and coming Detroit producer/DJ Meftah who is well versed in the city’s rich musical history.
